An accident involving a gas tanker in Mesick has sent a 16 year old boy to the hospital.
The Michigan State Police, along with Wexford County law enforcement responded to the scene.
The teen is in serious condition.
According to reports:
"It happened Wednesday morning at the intersection of M-37 and West 16 Road in Mesick.
According to Michigan State Police, a westbound vehicle had a flashing red light at the intersection and a southbound semi-tanker had a flashing yellow.
Troopers say the vehicle, driven by 16-year-old Reilly Shellenbarger of Goodrich, failed to stop at the intersection of M-37. The vehicle was then t-boned by the southbound semi-tanker, causing both the vehicle and the semi to go off the road.
Troopers tell us Shellenbarger was initially transported to Munson Medical Center for his injures but has since been transferred to Devos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids for serious injuries.
The driver of the semi was uninjured."
