A wild pit bull attack in Grand Traverse County has left one dog dead, a deputy injured, and the pit bull responsible for the assault under quarantine after surviving a gun shot wound.
The officer shot the animal after a failed tasing attempt.
According to WPBN:
"When deputies arrived, the pit bull was still attacking the other dog. The mixed-breed dog died in the attack. The two dogs lived together in the house.
A deputy then yelled to get the attention of the pit bull. The pit bull then ran at the deputy.
The deputy brought out a taser, but the pit bull bit the deputy's hand, causing the deputy to drop the taser.
We're told the pit bull then bit the deputy several times.
The deputy then grabbed a gun and shot the dog in the face. The pit bull then retreated after the bullet grazed its face. The dog was then taken to the vet where it was treated for minor injuries."
Charges may be filed in the incident, the case is under review.
