The owner of Par-T-Pac liquor store in Boyne City was arrested this afternoon after vandalizing the town's Family Fare during a protest.
Michael Long says the store's liquor license is driving him out of business.
According to WPBN:
"A liquor store owner in Boyne City who has been protesting the government and the liquor license of a grocery store has been arrested.
Boyne City Police arrested Michael Long on a charge of destruction of property on Sunday. Long, the owner of Par-T-Pac liquor store, continued his protest of the Family Fare liquor license Sunday afternoon by climbing on a ladder and painting "un" in front of the "Fare" sign on the store's building.
Long has covered the liquor store in signs saying that Family Fare getting a liquor license is a result of "cronyism" and "tyranny."
Long says that since the grocery store moved in a few years ago, his profit has dropped by hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, making his store barely profitable."
